The owner of this 2015 Audi A3 came to us all the way from Spring Hill, FL. He wasn’t happy with the sound system and wanted the ability to mirror his phone on his factory radio. After discussing integration options and goals with us, the customer decided to install a JL Audio TW1 series shallow sub in a very minimalistic enclosure. He decided to power it using a five-channel JL Audio XD1000/5 on his factory speakers.
The enclosure was very small, measuring in at less than 5 inches deep, so the client lost very little trunk room. We covered the enclosure in OEM-style Charcoal carpet and trimmed it out to the edge for a clean look. There was enough room for more subs, but this was a simple, elegant system and had more than enough bass for this Audi.
Factory head units can control sensors and door chimes, and be integrated into vehicle diagnostics systems. Keeping the factory head unit ensures we don’t alter any of those systems. By using sound integration pieces such as a CleanSweep or JL Audio FIX, we can maximize sound output and clarity, even with the various EQ curves or volume limitations the factory can sometimes place on their systems.
As a final integration piece, this customer wished to mirror his Android phone directly in the dash of his vehicle. Using our specialized video unlock products, we can add features such as a backup camera or external video sources to factory screens, even in high-end European vehicles.
