Here at Tunes-N-Tint in Lakeland, we are always looking for cutting-edge products to meet the needs of our clients. Integrating into a premium factory system has been challenging in some cases, but the new Kenwood Excelon XR600-6DSP now takes adding an amplifier to your factory system to a whole new level. Used with the iDatalink Maestro Module, even the most complex factory system can get a power upgrade.
What will the Kenwood Excelon XR600-6DSP do for me?
First of all, it will allow you to upgrade your smaller factory amplifier to a more robust 75 watts x 6 channels at 4 ohms – 100 watts x 6 at 2 ohms. It uses Class D amplifier technology for super-efficient power and a compact chassis. It gives you a very sophisticated digital signal processor (DSP) that works with your iPhone or Android via an app that gives you a wide variety of digital processing power.
Why is it Different from Other Amplifiers?
The major difference is how the Excelon XR600-6DSP connects to factory premium sound systems. Trying to upgrade some systems required “summing” the signals to get a full-range signal back, which could then be connected to a new amplifier. Frequently, this lead to the loss of some of your audio controls, such as the fader or tone controls, and some of the audible vehicle notifications like door chimes either didn’t work or were too loud. By using the iDatalink Maestro in conjunction with the XR600-6DSP, you get a cleaner signal and full functionality of your factory head unit features.
What is the iDatalink Maestro?
The iDatalink Maestro uses a vehicle-specific T-harness to connect seamlessly to the factory radio harness with a growing list of vehicle-specific adapters. It allows the factory system to continue to communicate with an upgraded amplifier when functions originally in the factory amplifier are removed. This option takes our ability to upgrade your factory system to a whole new level.
What is DSP?
Digital signal processing (DSP) takes the analog signal and converts it to a digital signal, the powerful processor in the XR600-6DSP can allow us to make some very complex adjustments to the signal via a powerful Bluetooth-connected iPhone or Android app. We can adjust crossover points and slopes for a system using separate components, make audio adjustments through the built-in 13 band EQ with three additional parametric adjustments, and make time alignment adjustments to dial in the sound.
As vehicles have become more sophisticated, the solutions to upgrade them have as well.
